About the Event

Please join Luis Alberto Urrea, the New York Times bestselling author of The Hummingbird’s Daughter, American Book Award winner, and Pulitzer-Prize nominated author of The Devil’s Highway, together with acclaimed West coast chef Isabel Cruz, for a special Queen of America Luncheon Adventure at historic Stargazer Farm located just outside of Portland.

Your adventure begins with a festive Mexican luncheon with Luis, featuring Isabel’s signature tamales, roasted Mexican chicken and salad created fresh from the farm’s organic produce, followed by a lively book discussion, Q&A and book signing of Luis’ new book, Queen of America.

About the Book and Author

In this heartbreaking, uplifting, and riotously funny sequel to the blockbuster international bestseller, The Hummingbird’s Daughter, Luis Alberto Urrea reconfirms his status of one of our nation’s premiere writers. After the bloody Tomochic rebellion, Teresita Urrea, beloved healer and “Saint of Cabora,” flees Mexico with her father. Besieged by pilgrims and pursued by assassins, Teresita embarks on a journey through turn-of-the-century industrial America, where she meets immigrants, tycoons, royalty and poets, all waking to the new American century. And as she decides what her own role in this modern future will be, she must ask herself: can a saint fall in love?
